BOREDOM BEGONE!!!

Ahem, I just got home after a busy day helping my mom at her shop, freshened up, did all the necessary stuffs and then decided to chat some friends up before i have a gooooood sleep. I asked a male friend of mine how his day was and he replied "Boring". WHAT! I mean, how could someone just sit and do nowt all day, like allow himself to get bored. Well, I'm a boring person but I have never being bored. So, I'm writing this for this friend of mine and every other bored person out there.

      Now, what is boredom?

hehehe... That could be one of it's many definitions *shrugs*

Well... Boredom is an emotional or psychological state experienced when an individual is left with nowt to do, is not interested in his or her surroundings or feels that a day or period is dull.
There are a thousand of things to do at any given moment. Having nowt to do is part of life.

What Does I'm Bored Really Mean?
  • Everyone's ignoring me and I would really like some attention.
  • I'm feeling clueless and need to plan for the day
  • I don't know how to slow down and let events unfold
  • I don't know how to structure my own time

Boredom isn't something you actively choose. No one wants to be bored; it just happens.

  • Figure out why you are bored
  • Stop thinking about how bored you are
  • Give yourself something to look forward to
If boredom persists, just remember that it doesn't last forever!

Boredom Therapy: Escape It Or Embrace It?
Boredom certainly is prevalent now as are the many ways to escape this unbearable and sometimes irritating feeling of emptiness.
One of the escape factors to battle boredom is the smartphone. Just check your phone-boredom be gone! Well, not entirely gone, but it certainly is good at killing time.
The average smartphone user checks their phone atleast 150 times a day-and more than half that time it's not because someone sent a text or is calling.
The introduction of smartphone has helped to keep us distracted and engaged in something at all times so that we do not have a free moment to let our mind wander into more interesting thoughts or memories, or to dwell on things that upst us.

Some psychologists who study boredom say that taking the uncomfortable path of embracing boredom, instead of escaping it, can elevate our minds and spark creativity. To really dive deep into the creative unknown that is our bored state of mind, we have got to do whatever it takes to remove those escape factors that are eating up our idle moments.
Want to practice embracing boredom? Try to sit still for five minutes and not do anything including yoga. Look around you, let your mind wander. What happened? Did you enjoy being bored?
Wallowing in a moment of absolutely nowt, facing a wall of time-it is not easy. But you do not have to take up meditation to turn boredom to fascination. Just try zoning out once in awhile, try getting away from the everyday world so you can tune into what is happening in your own world.

         How To Be Less Bored

Getting bored is just your cue that something needs to change. Whether you are bored right now, all the time, or worried about being bored in the future *shrugs*, there are things    you can do with your time and make something beautiful.
  • Learn a new language - There are a lot of languages you can not speak. Pick a any language of your choice, add a person from a country that speaks that language, learn more. Now, you are a foreigner *winks*
  • Find new music - Search for latest tracks of your favorite artist(s), get the lyrics. You can also get the lyrics of some songs you have been chewing your mouth trying to sing along.
  • Read - Read anything. Anything readable; novels, journals, biographies, documentaries. Alright, school might have changed your idea of reading, the only difference is this could be more fun than school books.
  • Revisit your childhood - Try to take pictures of your present facial expressions to note the difference between now and then. Ask about your childhood friends, hangout and catch up on events that have being happening. *it could be weird but it gets better*
  • Watch something unusual- Like a movie you do not like, you might end up loving it.
  • Design a websiteTeach yourself to build a website from scratch or use a blogging template. Your website can showcase your tastes, or be an online journal.
  • Cook something new - Buy a cook book and prepare something you have never prepared before. Make a video of yourself while cooking, would be fun watching yourself cook.
  • Get a job - Ask a friend who has a job to help you get one or search for one yourself.
  • Clean - Clean every part of your house. Even closets and drawers. There could be some money hiding somewhere *lol, i see you smiling*. You could find something else that might be useful to you aside money.
  • Re-design some old clothes - You never know, the newly designed old clothes may start trending.
  • Get outta the house - Take a walk, ride a bicycle, jog, visit a neighbor, hangout with some friends. Just leave that boring zone.
If you still feel bored after all these...*sighs*, see a Doctor or a Pastor or Reverend. Your case is outside my capability
